Ferrosorp-DG is a harmless, all-natural, powder-like compound derived from ferric hydroxide. It has been in use for over a decade in Europe, and is now used in 1000+ digesters across the globe.
Here are some reasons why Ferrosorp-DG is now used in most digesters that operate outside of the US:
- lowers hydrogen sulphide levels to near 0/ppm
- stops corrosion problems in pipes, parts and machinery
- increases methane production
- allows the digester to behave predictably and efficiently
- creates nutrient-rich organic fertilizers (solid/liquid)
- eliminates costly downstream H2S removal systems
- frees you from ever having to handle, store, apply and dispose of dangerous iron-salts
Simply mixing FERROSORP-DG into the substrate:
The ferric hydroxide contained in Ferrosorp-DG binds H2S during its formation in the digester. This is a two step reaction: First, trivalent iron gets reduced under anaerobic conditions to its divalent form. This allows for the oxidation of hydrogen sulphide into elemental sulphur. The divalent iron then reacts with the hydrogen sulphide forming iron sulphide.
- Reduction of ferric-(III)-hydroxide:
2 Fe (OH)3 +H2S ---> 2 Fe(OH)2 + S + 2 H2O
- Precipitation of sulphide:
Fe (OH)2 + H2S ---> FeS + 2 H2O
Calcium compounds contained in Ferrosorp-DG enhance the buffer capacity of the substrate, preventing acidification. The absence of H2S combined with a favorable Ph and the presence of other important trace elements allows methanogenesis to proceed freely. The resulting yield of biogas is clean, with high concentrations of methane.
Ferrosorp-DG is classified as “non-hazardous to waters.” It is non-toxic and completely safe. There are no special regulations concerning the storage and handling of Ferrosorp-DG.
Ferrosorp-DG is easy to use/apply.
Cost-effective compared to downstream removal of H2S due to a higher biogas yield.
Materials and waste-management are not affected.
Ferrosorp-S is a pelletized adsorption compound derived from iron-hydroxide. It is used in the following gas treatment procedures: The desulphurization of…
- Sewage gas in municipal sewage treatment plants
- Mechanical fuel gas and synthesis gas
- Biogas from fermented wastes
Using Ferrosorp-S involves channeling the raw gas through a tower-shaped (or other similarly shaped) reactor containing the Ferrosorp-S.
A chemical reaction (adsorption) between the H2S in the gas and the iron hydroxide in the Ferrosorp-S produces solid iron-sulphide. The addition of aerial oxygen results in the continuous regeneration of the media by forming elemental sulphur. This achieves high loading rates of more than 30matter %.
Please see the following equations:
ADSORPTION: 2 Fe(OH)3 + 3 H2S ---> Fe2S3 + 6 H2O
REGENERATION: Fe2S3 + 1,5 02 + 3 H2O ---> 2 Fe(OH)3 + 3 S
Gas that has been purified with Ferrosorp-S will contain H2S levels that are between 0-50 ppm thus significantly reducing/eliminating corrosion problems caused by H2S.
OVERVIEW OF BENEFITS USING FERROSORP-S:
- Safe procedure, used and tested for decades
- High cleaning performance at low cost
- High loading rates due to simultaneous regeneration
- Good fine-cleaning due to the high activity level of media
- Low pressure loss due to optimized pellet shape
- Easy and cost-effective disposal of spent matter
Ferrosorp-Plus is a granular form of ferric hydroxide to be used for the removal of waste-water ingredients. We recommend that Ferrosorp-Plus be used in:
- the elimination of arsenic from drinking water
- the binding of phosphate from rivers and lakes (flood restoration)
- the treatment industrial waste-waters polluted with heavy metals
- the treatment of contaminated ground-water
- filter-beds for the separation of phosphate compounds in wetlands
- 'reactive-barriers' for the confinement of contamination in depositions
- the binding of nutritive substances in aquariums or garden ponds
GENERAL BENEFITS INCLUDE:
- High cleaning capacity at low costs
- Simple treatments with low maintenance requirements
